Top watersports: In both Latchi Harbour and Polis, it is easy to find watersports to enjoy. Boat tours can take you to see the many sights that make up Akamas National Park as well as plenty of other places of interest along the coast.

You can also enjoy scuba diving, water skiing, kayaking, parasailing and more, from many of the local beaches as well as Latchi Harbour.

Latchi and Polis are renowned for their peaceful, pebble and sand beaches, free from crowds and surrounded by nature. Although these beaches offer a restful escape, you will still find a few restaurants nearby and good facilities on the beach.

The best beaches in the area are Polis Municipal Beach, Latsi Beach and Argaka Beach in the rural village of Argaka – a charming place topped with mountains perfect for hiking.

For something a little different, take a boat tour up to the Blue Lagoon. This tantalising, azure blue inlet is encircled by rocky cliffs, creating a sublime place to dive, swim and relax in its warm waters.

The Troodos Mountains and Akamas National Park are the two biggest attractions in the local area.

Up in the hills, you can hike, cycle and drive through the Troodos Mountains. Covered in over 750 plants and wildlife that make up the National Forest, this is one of the biggest attractions in Cyprus, dotted here and there with vineyards, villages and Byzantine churches.

Along the coast, the Akamas Peninsula National Park is an enormous nature reserve that stretches up into the hills. Rugged gorges, valleys, bays and cliffs make this a remarkable place. Some of the park is best seen from the sea on a boat tour or during a jeep safari.

The area is home to around 530 species of plants as well as over 200 species of exotic wildlife, including many rare birds, butterflies and animals.

The biggest attractions at Akamas National Park include its nature trails, Avakas Gorge, Fontana Amorosa and the Baths Of Aphrodite.

Located at the very beginning of Akamas, Avakas Gorge is a striking, narrow canyon with walls up to 30 metres high whilst Fontana Amorosa is a picturesque, rocky bay with a spectacular rock formation, said to be where Aphrodite liked to bring her lovers. Nearby, the Baths of Aphrodite is a pretty spring hidden inside a curtain of firs and pine trees.

Throughout this region, you will come across lots of traditional villages and vineyards where some of the country's finest wines are made. Take the opportunity to explore the villages, many have delicious tavernas and small museums charting the history of the local area. You can also take a wine tour and sample fine wines such as Maratheftiko and Xynisteri.

In the hills, you will also find Minthis Golf Club, a stunning 18-hole golf course with views across the Troodos Mountains. Another special attraction is the Lara Bay Turtle Conservation Station where you can learn about how loggerhead and green turtles come to nest at this rural cove and see rescue turtles up close.
